CSCS has recently been receiving reports that some holders of the GQA Labourer Q-card (a recognised partner of the CSCS Card Scheme) have been turned away from sites as their cards and occupations were not recognised to be approved by CSCS.
Although most people in the construction industry are familiar with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), not everyone is aware that there are 35 different card schemes that display the CSCS logo. This has been causing confusion at some site gates as staff have struggled to identify correctly qualified site workers.
Workers holding partner scheme cards displaying the CSCS logo have obtained these using the same standards required by CSCS themselves. CSCS fully support robust processes used by sites to ensure none qualified individuals are not allowed on site and has provided information to site managers and will answer queries about partner card schemes.
